Life University is seeking an Assistant Professor to serve in the Master of Science in Positive Psychology Program. This top-ranked online master’s program is one of a handful of degrees around the country rooted in Positive Psychology. The MSPP takes a strengths-based approach to teaching and research, with a focus on flourishing and positive human functioning. We consider what enables individuals and communities to thrive, from finding meaning to cultivating gratitude, compassion, and forgiveness. The program has a particular strength in professional coaching, and students who take the coaching track earn certification with the International Coaching Federation.
We are seeking a dynamic faculty person with academic expertise and professional experience in coaching. We are especially interested in faculty who are familiar with coach education accreditation, coach certification and teaching standards for the international coaching federation, and who have experience in the fields of social services, ethics and culture in coaching, entrepreneurship, and positive leadership in organizations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Comply with the University Honor Code as well as all university and college policies, including those in the Faculty Handbook.
2. Primarily responsible for the instruction, supervision, and evaluation of students in the classroom as well as course assessments for the department.
3. Teach graduate-level courses.
4. Develop graduate-level courses and curricula.
5. Direct capstone projects.
6. Conduct comprehensive examinations.
3. Prepare a syllabus for each course taught using the college template.
4. Organize and lead residencies for students online and at Life University’s campus in Marietta.
5. Teach class in a professional manner, teaching the material that is present in the syllabus and course outline.
6. Start and end each class on time.
7. Communicate your teaching and student office hours schedule for each quarter and be present virtually during student office hours.
8. Appropriately maintain all necessary records for each course taught.
9. Attend scheduled meetings and events as appropriate and as requested by Assistant Dean of Social Sciences or Associate Dean of Online Education.
10. Cultivate in oneself and others a commitment to helpfulness, building relationships, collaborating to find the best solution, and serving students with care and integrity.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience Requirements
1. Doctorate (PhD, PsyD, EdD) in Psychology
2. ICF Certification at PCC or MCC Level, with a minimum of 5 years in successful coaching.
3. Familiarity with positive psychology technology such as Acceptance and Commitment Coaching, Appreciative Inquiry, Character Strengths, Positive Organizational Scholarship, Positive Leadership.
4. 3 years online teaching experience.
5. Experience mentoring, supervising and assessing coach performance Including successful completion of ICF Assessor Training
6. Positive and/or Coaching Psychology research
7. Working knowledge of Center for Credentialing and Education’s Board Certification Coach (BCC) certification program.
