JOB PURPOSE
The purpose of the Research Associate is to support the mission of Life University and the specific functions of the Dr. Sid E. Williams Center for Chiropractic Research (CCR). The CCR is responsible for the advancement of the mission-driven research agenda and enterprise at Life University. The Research Associate works to promote, facilitate, and advance the chiropractic research initiatives of the CCR. The Research Associate will be responsible for interacting with study participants, recording study data, training, data preparation, and implementation of CCR research protocols.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Performs a variety of complex procedures involved in the collection of data for research purposes.
- Screens potential study participants for inclusion in clinical trials, including facilitating communications with participants.
- Assists with planning, scheduling, and executing research procedures, including informed consent procedures.
- Collects, extracts, and organizes research data for management.
- Demonstrates and trains others in the proper use/operation of laboratory techniques and equipment.
- Monitors laboratory procedures to maintain quality assurance standards.
- Reviews literature for information related to research projects and other departmental initiatives.
- Assists with the creation of recruitment and promotional materials.
- Assists with data analysis and preparation of reports, charts, and graphs.
- Assists with calibrating, troubleshooting and performing routine repair and maintenance of equipment, including tech support requests.
- Assists with updating reports and logs related to the progress of clinical trials and other research projects.
- Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- May assist in protocol design, protocol documentation, and creation of supporting documents with approval of the Director of the Center for Chiropractic Research.
- Investigates and proposes alternative experimental procedures for consideration by a principal investigator.
- Uses independent judgment in applying or adapting scientific techniques.
- Maintains required certifications and trainings.
- Assumes additional responsibilities and performs special projects as needed or requested.

Education, Training, and/or Experience
Associates degree in a scientific field and two years of research experience; OR Bachelor's degree in a scientific field
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in a research lab or clinical research experience
- Some administrative experience, including scheduling and communications
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Nature of work requires an ability to operate standard business office equipment and advanced research lab equipment.
- Requires ability to communicate and exchange information, collect, compile and prepare work documents, set-up and maintain work files.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs; retrieving and placing materials on high shelves and on floor-level shelves; standing, walking; carrying; grasping; hearing; seeing; sitting; kneeling; climbing; balancing; stooping; crouching and reaching.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Work performed in a general office environment.
- Some travel is required.
- Flexibility in working schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed at study sites
