Life Works is looking for a The Community Inclusion Specialist to provide opportunities for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to develop, plan & participate in activities in the community. This position requires an individual to be enthusiastic and creative while supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities activities identified by program participants.
The ideal candidate for this position will have an understanding of:
- How to build relationships with clients while maintaining boundaries
- Working with and communicating with a diverse population
- Ability to write clear and concise progress notes
- Ability to research local, free (or low cost) activities
- Ability to read and understand plans and/or protocols for individual participants
- Ability to support participants with signing up for activities

- Previous experience working with individuals with Developmental /Intellectual disabilities is a PLUS
You must have the following:
- Must have high school diploma or equivalent
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must complete and pass department background check to include FBI fingerprint check
- Must be able to squat, stoop/bend, kneel, climb stairs, be able to lift at least 50 pounds (or ¼ own body weight), push and pull against potential resistance; and be able to implement non-physical and physical interventions and CPR with people supported when needed.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen (does NOT include THC)
- Must be able to put client needs as a number one priority
- Ability to problem solve, be flexible, creative and adaptable
- Must be dependable and have a strong work ethic
Benefits we offer:
- Employees working 30 hours per week will be eligible to choose from two different medical plan options once they meet eligibility requirements (1st of the month following 60 days of employment).
