What is Lifebanc?

 

Lifebanc, is the federally designated organ, eye and tissue recovery organization that serves 20 counties in Northeast Ohio. Put simply, we facilitate and coordinate organ, eye and tissue donation and transplantation in our community and educate the public on the importance of our mission. Position Description:

 

This position is a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the organization. The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will be working closely with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to drive financial strategy across the organization to optimize financial security, ensure compliance and position the organization for sustained growth.


Essential Functions:

 

 Strategic Financial Leadership:

 

  • Develop and implement financial strategies to support the organization’s growth objectives.
  • Partner with CEO and senior leadership team to shape long-term financial plans aligned with the organization’s vision.
  • Lead budgeting and financial planning across multiple departments ensuring accountability and fiscal discipline.
  • Build relationships with stakeholders, including financial institutions and regulators as applicable.
  • Effectively communicate complex financial information to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Counsels CEO, Board of Directors and Finance Committees on finance policy to ensure effective facilitation of the strategic goals.

Operational Oversight & Financial Management:

  • Responsible for the completion and timeliness of the monthly and year end close. 
  • Responsible for the annual Medicare Cost Report in accordance with applicable Federal regulations and to ensure maximum reimbursement through the Medicare program
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, audits and reporting requirements.
  • Responsible for developing and refining financial policies, controls and systems to drive efficiency and accountability.
  • Responsible for the annual operating budget including communication, monitoring and forecasting.
  • Ensures the Finance Department work performed is compliant with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Provides oversight, direction, and training to Finance Department staff in the performance of their daily activities related to accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and general ledger accounting.
  • Ensures all finance operations are performed within established time frames

 

Investment Assessment:

  • Identify, analyze, and evaluate potential acquisitions, mergers and investment opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the executive team to identify and pursue strategic partnerships and joint ventures.
  • Lead due diligence processes, including risk assessment, financial modeling and valuation analysis.
  • Leverage innovative financial technologies to streamline processes and workflows.
  • Implement tools and systems to enhance reporting accuracy, transparency and speed.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required. Master’s degree is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum ten years’ experience in Accounting/Finance with a strong background in accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and financial reporting.
  • Seven years of previous executive leadership experience.
  • Experience with PC-based accounting systems.
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations and reporting.
  • Previous experience in the Organ Procurement industry and/ or the non-profit sector is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to effectively prioritize, ensuring work is performed in the most efficient manner and that deadlines are met.
  • Sufficient attention to detail to ensure complete accuracy of financial data.
