JOB SUMMARY:
The Associate Counsel, Claims and Litigation assists in the defense of litigation brought against LifeBridge Health, Inc. and its subsidiaries. These claims are primarily hospital professional and general liability, but may include employment, contract, garnishment, or other litigation matters, as needed. This position supports the Director, Claims and Litigation in the investigation, management, and resolution of claims.
Manages
- Manages liability claims by investigating & evaluating assigned claims, assisting and supervising outside counsel, and providing reports to hospital staff &committees.
- Supports Credentialing with claims histories.
- Assists with regulatory reporting.
Oversees
- Supervises outside counsel for assigned claims and suits.
- Coordinates with counsel in investigating claims and suits, identifying witnesses, obtaining relevant information responsive to discovery requests, and obtaining expert review.
Represents
- Represents LifeBridge and its insured subsidiaries as directed at pretrial conferences or mediations when necessary.
- May be required to directly represent LifeBridge and is subsidiaries as counsel in minor litigation matters.
Advises
- Provides legal advice to management and other operations personnel.
- Takes call as part of rotation for Legal Department.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Seasoned professional knowledge; equivalent to a Master's degree; knowledge in more than one discipline
- 5-7 year’s experience
- Law degree with experience in medical malpractice litigation or claims management required. Maryland bar admission or eligibility required.
