Assists the pathologist with the processing of surgical specimens and autopsies.
Responsibilities
Assists the pathologist or pathology assistant (PA). Collection of FNA; Gross exam of uncomplicated surgical specimens and biopsies; Autopsy including body prep, evisceration of organs, pelvis, and brain; Obtaining cultures, prep of body for funeral home, disposal of organs; Receives, accessions, files and disposes of surgical pathology specimens following SOP. Maintains inventory in the gross lab and morgue. Prepares and maintains adequate stores of formalin, boudins, acid rinse, and decalcifying solution.
Experience: Required: * Less than one year
Education: Preferred: * High School / GED
