UNIT SUMMARY: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) is a 40-bed cardiac telemetry unit for patients suffering from chest pain, chronic heart failure and cardiac arrhythmias, or who require preoperative care for catheterization or cardiac surgery. Patients on this unit may also be under 24-hour observation. The daily routine for nurses on this unit consists of bedside shift reports, assessments, hourly rounding, phlebotomies, IV insertions, aquapheresis, TR band recovery, patient education and more. During daily accountable care unit rounding, physicians, nurses, case management team members or social workers, and members of the pharmacy team collaborate and discuss the care plans of patients. Staff members on this unit pride themselves on an autonomous nursing practice setting and strongly value communication, collaboration and teamwork.
JOB SUMMARY: Provides safe, age-appropriate patient care, and function as advisor, resource, for patients and their families as a member of the patient care team at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore.
REQUIREMENTS: BSN or ASN degree; less than one year of experience; Maryland RN license; American Heart Association CPR (BLS) certification.
