That's where the Billing Specialist comes in - to provide the highest quality billing support to both our clients and our clinical team.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies electronically or via paper forms.
- Review patient bills for accuracy and completeness, and obtain any missing information.
- Follow up on unpaid claims within standard billing cycle timeframes.
- Check insurance payments for discrepancies and handle any non-covered services.
- Assist patients with billing questions, explain their insurance benefits, and work out payment plans.
- Collaborate with clinicians to ensure proper billing for services rendered.
- Maintain strict confidentiality; adhere to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations.
- Stay updated with changes in insurance regulations, medical coding, and billing practices specific to mental healthcare.
- Answer client phone calls and email inquiries regarding billing questions.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Medical Biller or in a similar role
- Proficient in using medical billing software and electronic health records (EHR) systems
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in coding and billing processes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication skills to interact with healthcare professionals, insurance companies, and clients
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Certification in medical billing or coding is preferred but not required.
