POSITION TITLE : Food Service Worker – Mound St (512)
REPORTS TO : Operations Manager
POSITION SUMMARY :
Position is responsible for performing work in an assigned area of the food production or packaging facility. Employee will follow established principles of food handling and sanitation under the immediate supervision of a Food Service Coordinator.
WORK LOCATION :
1699 W Mound St Kitchen hours of operation; M-F 6 : 30 am to 3 pm
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Responsible for portioning, plating, sealing and packing meals from a variety of different menus. Incorporates safe food handling practices and follows standard portioning guidelines when working with food.
Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing all kitchen equipment, pots, pans and shipping containers using established guidelines for equipment cleaning and sanitizing. Visually inspects all items for cleanliness.
Responsible for cleaning assigned work area, equipment and utensils. Performs janitorial duties as assigned such as emptying trash, scrubbing floors and washing walls
Responsible for completing other departmental and agency duties as assigned. This includes participating in departmental meetings and trainings.
WORKING CONDITIONS :
Work is performed in a large institutional kitchen. May work in refrigerated and freezer areas in the kitchen. Work scheduled hours per day in between 6 : 30 a.m. opening and 3 : 00 p.m. closing Monday through Friday with some weekends as assigned. Days off during the week will be scheduled when weekend work is required. Must work holidays as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Prefer high school degree or equivalent.
Prefer 6 months food service experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :
Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and personal hygiene standards.
Ability to work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment.
Must possess good written and oral communication skills.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions
Ability to perform basic math.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Ability to work independently with general supervision.
