POSITION TITLE : Meals-on-Wheels Volunteer Engagement Coordinator
REPORTS TO : Assistant Director, Nutrition Programs
POSITION SUMMARY :
This position is primarily responsible for monitoring volunteer coverage of Meals-On-Wheels routes and identifying ways to fill the gaps in the schedule. This includes performing data mining of the database of current volunteers, analyzing results for common factors, and maintaining an on-going pipeline of one-time as well as on-going volunteers. In addition, this position would be the “face” of the Nutrition Programs, welcoming new groups, providing orientations and training, and directing volunteers to their volunteer assignments.
This position will serve as liaison between the Nutrition Programs team and the Corporate & Community Engagement team. The individual in this position will have frequent contact with agency personnel, volunteers, clients, funders, and the general public. Work requires attention to detail, customer relations, communication skills, interviewing skills, understanding of seniors and handicapped individuals, and an ability to handle multiple functions at one time. Work performed will be of a professional and sometimes confidential nature. A positive and cooperative image and attitude is crucial, as well as independence and self-direction to accomplish its essential functions and responsibilities.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Meals-On-Wheels Scheduling
- Responsible for assisting with daily coverage of volunteer routes. This includes analyzing gaps, looking three to five days out, and working to get volunteer coverage for open routes.
- Mining” the MOW Scheduler database to engage with past volunteers who have had limited commitment to convert to a more regular commitment.
- Identifying volunteers who have a history of cancelations and determining the best solution to avoid future gaps / cancelations.
- Responsible for performing various record keeping and database functions. This includes reporting on Meals-on-Wheels volunteer percentages and creating tags / groupings to maintain an on-going pipeline of one-time as well as on-going volunteers.
- Acts as the liaison between the Nutrition Programs team and the Corporate & Community Engagement team, being the point-of-contact for any day-of volunteer coverage concerns.
Volunteer Services
WORKING CONDITIONS :
Work in designated office site. Generally, works 40 hours per week between Agency opening and closing, Monday through Friday, some weekend and evening work may be required on a limited basis.
QUALIFICATIONS :
High school diploma or equivalent is required and an Associate’s OR Bachelor degree is preferred. One-year experience in busy office setting, with experience in an outreach / recruitment position or equivalent is preferred. Intermediate computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access needed. This employee must be detail oriented, be able to multi-task, and have strong customer relations skills.
