Position Title: Behavioral Health Specialist
Reports To: Behavioral Health Director
Classification: Salary; exempt
Attendance at HIPAA and compliance educational programs is a requirement of employment.
SUMMARY:
Provides quality clinical mental health consultation to providers and staff as requested; and provides comprehensive diagnostic mental health assessments, interventions, education, referrals and consultations for patients in the primary care setting.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides quality clinical consultation to providers and staff in areas of individual, family, child and adolescent, regarding mental and behavioral health related issues.
Provides brief, solution focused behavioral interventions with active development of Behavioral Change planning. Follow up is provided for patients referred via medical providers.
Formulates plan of care for clients.
Cultivates education, administration and self-management skills for targeted populations with psychological or behavioral health issues.
Promotes Lifecare Family Health Provider's knowledge of patient behavioral health issues and provides education to assist with enhancing primary care utilization of behavioral health interventions.
Promotes a smooth interface between medicine and specialized mental/behavioral health care throughout the organization.
Collaborates and co-manages the patient’s behavioral health care with consistent, expeditious feedback to referring providers.
Provides on-site availability for crisis triage and intervention.
Documents the clinical behavioral health aspect of patient interventions and tracks the patient referrals to specialty behavioral health care.
Attends monthly agency staff and department meetings.
Documents patient assessment/intervention data in medical records using established medical record forms and documentation practices, providing communication through the E.H. R.
Provides patient education to individuals and groups about health maintenance and management of chronic disease process and mental health conditions. Communicates facts, ideas, and skill that change knowledge, attitudes, values, beliefs, behaviors, and practices if individuals and families.
Establishes an interpersonal relationship with individuals or families intended to increase or enhance their capacity for self-care and coping.
Participates as a member of a multidisciplinary team to facilitate teamwork, improve patient care processes and outcomes.
Responds to crisis situations according to policy.
Demonstrates communication skills that are clear, effective, facilitate patient care and team functioning, and is respectful of differences.
Performs clinic and outreach related tasks.
Establishes and maintains professional working relationship with other members of the health care team.
Maintains professional competence by pursuing opportunities for continuous learning, attending continuing education offerings, reading professional literature, and engaging in other activities, which develop new knowledge and skills.
Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, personnel, behavioral health, medical, and clerical policies and procedures.
Assists with seasonal programs as needed.
Adheres to the standards and policies of the Organizational Privacy/Security and Compliance Programs, including the duty to comply with applicable laws and regulations (HIPAA, OSHA, OIG, guidelines, and other State and Federal laws). This also includes reporting to the Board of Directors, Compliance Officer, Privacy Officer, supervisor or suggestion box, any suspected unethical, fraudulent, or unlawful acts or practices.
Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Master's degree in the Behavioral Health field (Psychology, Counseling, Social Work) with two (2) years of directly related experience is required.
Licensed in State of Ohio as LISW, LPCC, LISW, LISW-S or psychologist.
BLs certification within the first 90 days of employment.

5. Knowledge of related certification requirements

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Successful candidate must be willing to submit to post offer pre-employment physical examination/medical history check if requested
May be required to submit to TB and Rubella screening.
Lifecare Family Health will provide Hepatitis A/B vaccination; candidate may decline vaccinations in writing or provide record of previous vaccination.
A pre-employment background investigation may be required
Become BLS Certified within ninety days of employment
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Prolonged sitting or standing may be required. Those physical movements and the degree of mobility, manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination normally associated with behavioral health counselor duties in a clinic office setting will be performed on a repetitive basis. This also includes bending, twisting, reaching, lifting, pulling, pushing, and walking. The ability to sustain moderate physical activity, handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds, and standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day is expected. The ability to distinguish letters and symbols as well as the ability to utilize telephones, computer terminals, fax machines, and copiers is required. Working under stressful conditions as well as irregular hours may be required.
