We have an immediate opportunity for Business Office Clerks - Part-Time. (Monday & Tuesday from 9:00am - 5:00pm and Thursday 1:00pm-5:00pm)

General Summary: The Business Office Clerk is responsible for the operation of admitting/registration procedures and accounts payable processing. This position is responsible for coordinating with the Business Office, HIM, Intake and Nursing Departments to assure a smooth and accurate flow of patient/hospital information. The Business Office Clerk is actively involved in department activities, transdisciplinary team activities, and LifeCare activities to ensure individualized, patient-centered health care for all patient populations admitted to LifeCare Hospital.

Patient Population: Has contact with patients in a non-clinical setting; understands and demonstrates appropriate behavior when interacting with patients in the adult (18-65 years of age) and geriatric (65 and older) populations.

Essential Functions:

  • Demonstrates proper performance of skills reflected and validated by the Business Office Clerk competency checklist.
  • Performs all pre-admission/admission procedures, patient registration, creating and updating patient Data Cards, patient charging, accounts receivable closeout procedures, and accounts payable processing to include data entry of required information.
  • Coordinates with the Intake Coordinators and Nursing Department to assure complete and accurate information at the time of patient admission/registration.
  • Coordinates with HIM to reconcile census statistics and coordinates with department managers on patient charge information or any other related issues.
  • Assures that accounts receivable days are closed out appropriately and according to schedule.
  • Prepares daily patient accounts receivable reports for Administration including: daily census, managed care update, census update, monthly census and other reports as needed.
  • Responsible for supplying private physicians and the home office with needed information for billing of LifeCare patients.

Requirements

Experience:

  • One year clerical experience required
  • One year hospital admitting and computer data entry preferred

Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Licensure/Certification: N/A

Salary : $26,900 - $34,100
