Health Educator, Substance Use Prevention & Health Promotion

LifeCare Public Health is seeking a qualified Health Educator to join our team in a full-time capacity. This position will focus on the prevention and reduction of substance use among youth and adults, specifically targeting alcohol, cannabis, opioids, and tobacco use. The Health Educator will play a key role in planning, implementing, and evaluating various grant-funded programs designed to encourage healthy lifestyles and build community-wide support for health promotion initiatives. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Collect and analyze data to assess community health needs and trends.
• Plan, implement, and monitor population-based interventions to promote healthy behaviors and reduce substance use.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of programs and interventions, adjusting strategies to improve outcomes.
• Develop and participate in community-based coalitions to analyze health data, set goals, and advocate for public health policy.
• Foster and maintain relationships with community partners and stakeholders to drive policy, system, environmental, and social changes for healthier communities.
• Collaborate with schools, healthcare providers, and local organizations to implement evidence-based prevention programs.
• Provide training and support to community leaders, parents, and stakeholders on substance use prevention and related health topics.
• Identify and pursue additional grant and funding opportunities to sustain and expand program offerings.
• Work closely with marketing and communications teams to design media campaigns and disseminate critical public health information.
• Develop and implement substance misuse prevention programs as required by the CSUP grant, with a specific focus on cannabis-related initiatives.
• Ensure timely and accurate submission of proposed activities and workplans for MDH as part of the CSUP grant requirements.
• Participate in site visits, conference calls, and other necessary meetings to ensure compliance with CSUP grant objectives.
• Stay current with the latest research on substance use prevention and best practices.
• Coordinate and lead workshops, seminars, and training sessions to educate the community on substance use risks and prevention strategies.

This role will involve close collaboration with local public health teams and coalitions across five counties: Roseau, Kittson, Marshall, Pennington, and Red Lake. The Health Educator will work alongside community stakeholders, youth and adults, and state and national substance abuse prevention experts to enhance program outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s degree in community health, health education, public health, nursing, behavioral health, health sciences, substance abuse prevention, healthcare, or a related field.
• 1-3 years of experience in health education, community health programs, or a directly related field.
