What we are looking for:
We have an opening to join our team as an assistant teacher in our 2-3 year old potty trained classroom. We are looking for someone who is caring, energetic and reliable. Sioux Falls First Learning Center strives to provide a solid foundation of spiritual growth, academics, physical development and relationship skills-- all in a safe, fun and friendly environment.
This position requires you to assist with the daily care and instruction of our SFFLC children. This includes but is not limited to: providing quality care and education, representation of the learning center in a positive manner to parents and the community as well as keeping a clean and safe environment for all our kiddos.
Qualifications:
Previous experience working with children is preferred. Excellent communication skills required. Must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid CPR certification or be able to obtain one within 90 days of employment. Requires inside and outside supervision of children in various weather and playground conditions.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- This position requires flexibility with working with all ages and classes.
- Providing a structure based & predictable environment that enables children to always feel safe.
- Accounting for all children during all activities and after each transition.
- Enforcing safety rules.
- Establishing an atmosphere of respect, safety and concern for children and staff
- Always interacting with the children.
- Consistently monitoring staff/children ratios as required by state licensing guidelines; reporting any differences to Lead Teacher immediately.
- Assist in cleaning and maintaining the classroom as well as the furnishings and equipment in those areas.
- Assist in implementing the curriculum planned by the Lead Teacher in a fun, age-appropriate manner and according to state standards.
- Maintaining good relationships with parents through communication and child development updates.
- Reliability and punctuality
- Other duties as assigned.
