SWIM INSTRUCTOR - Summer w/ option for fall/winter indoor lessons
Outdoor Pool Swim Lessons
Bring your energetic, positive and creative personality to LifeCycle Swim School. Be part of our summer team that provides safe, effective, fun swim lessons and water safety education for all ages, including adults. You’ll guide students through our proprietary progressive program starting with comfort, survival skills, basic water competency, and onto stroke introduction and refinement. This hourly opportunity also includes pool opening and closing responsibilities. Paid training. Lessons take place in a private, residential pool.
We have openings for beginner/intermediate teachers and advanced stroke refinement teachers.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Swim teaching experience highly preferred
- Lifeguard certification - if you don't have this we can help you get it.
- Competent, confident swimming strokes with ability to demonstrate the skills listed in the Physical Requirements section. We may need to help refine your form.
- Successful candidates can come from a variety of backgrounds: Teaching, Sports/Fitness Training, Working with Children (includes parenting!), Psychology, or Premium Customer Service.
- Spanish language fluency a plus.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- During your shift, keep everyone safe in and around the water.
- Execute safe, effective swim lessons for any of the levels of the LifeCycle Progressive Swim Program – which you’ll learn during onboarding.
- Educate students and parents of minor students in our water safety curriculum.
- Establish a positive rapport with students and parents.
- Open and close the pool, following set protocols. Set up and store teaching supplies, clean/disinfect touch points. Follow CDC protocols to help stop spread of covid-19
- Commitment to your assigned schedule and respect shown to each student/family to be on time and prepared for each class.
- Establish clear and open communication with clients, supervisor and pool owner.
RESULTS
You'll teach students to be safe in, on and around water, reducing the community's exposure to drowning accidents. You'll encourage a love for swimming that will help students enjoy a lifetime of aquatic activities and personal fitness. You'll help establish LifeCycle Swim School as the premium provider of swim instruction and water safety education in New Jersey, and create opportunities for personal career growth.

PHYSICAL & OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Reliable transportation to get to pool location.
- Two references.
- Two to six days per week, depending on how much you want to work. Monday-Friday shifts include 10am-1pm, 2:00-5:30; 4:00-7:00. Optional weekend work.
- Getting wet, stairs, kneeling, twisting, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, vision.
- Proper demonstration of the following swim skills:
- Water skills: Bubbles and bobs; Front and back floats, with roll-overs; Streamline glides on back and front; Survival floats and treading
- Strokes: Paddle stroke; Elementary backstroke; Freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke. Butterfly preferred.
- Water entries: turn and slide; pencil jump; sitting dive
- Flip-turns and competitive diving a plus
Job Types: Part-time, Seasonal
Pay: $18.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 12 – 35 per week
