LifeHouse Early Childhood Center (LECC) Teacher Job Description
OVERVIEW
The LECC Teacher shall partner with parents and guardians to nurture children by developing and providing age appropriate educational programs that will contribute to physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual development. The Teacher ensures that all students are supervised in a safe, nurturing, Christian environment.
Academic excellence requires that the Teacher teach basic social skills and a foundation in early learning in personal hygiene, Bible, music, art, science, literature, number sense age appropriate for children from ages 6 weeks – Preschool 4/5 year olds. All teaching must utilize a Biblical worldview.
REQUIRED PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Teachers must be at least 18 years of age and hold a certificate through Delaware First. Each teacher must successfully complete State Background Checks and health assessments, as well as obtaining or being willing to obtain CPR and First Aid certifications. In addition to these minimal requirements, we require our teachers to:
- Have received Jesus Christ as his/her personal Savior and be deeply committed to a consistent daily walk with Jesus Christ.
- Believe that the Bible is God’s Word and standard for faith and daily living.
- Be a Christian role model in attitude, speech and actions toward others.
- Be a member in good standing at a local church which has a Statement of Faith in agreement with LECC and LifeHouse DE’s Statement of Faith.
- Have the spiritual maturity, academic ability, and personal leadership qualities to “train up a child in the way he should go.” Prov 22:6
- Possess the ability to work gracefully with parents, students, LECC staff, and LifeHouse Church ministry leadership and servants to develop a unified and successful program using shared space.
- Demonstrate the character qualities of enthusiasm, courtesy, flexibility, integrity, gratitude, kindness, self-control, perseverance, and punctuality.
- Respectfully submit and be loyal to constituted authority.
- Notify the Administration of any policy he/she is unable to support.
- Refuse to use or circulate confidential information inappropriately.

JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reflect the purpose of the school which is to honor God in every class and in every activity.
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and an atmosphere that promotes young student learning.
- Responsible for the general supervision and management of children in your assigned classroom by establishing and enforcing rules for behavior, and policies and procedures to maintain order among the children.
- Plan, supervise, and implement the program/curriculum for the class in accordance with the policies and philosophy of LECC.
- Instruct children individually and in groups, adapting teaching methods to meet children’s varying needs and interests.
- Supervise and promote activities designed to enhance the healthy emotional, social, intellectual, physical, and spiritual development of children.
- Supervise activities to ensure safety at all times.
- Integrate Biblical principles as appropriate.
- Provide a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate, and use both in learning activities and in imaginative play.
- Prepare children for next age group by encouraging them to explore learning opportunities and to persevere with challenging tasks.
- Observe and evaluate children’s performance, behavior, social development and physical health.
- Prepare daily reports for the children.
- Maintain accurate and complete student records, and prepare reports on children and activities, as required by laws and administrative regulations.
- Encourage parent/guardian participation in school activities.
- Maintain general house-keeping and cleanliness practices for your classroom based on LECC and state guidelines and regulations.
- Attend staff meetings, in-service days, and center functions as required.
- Participate in and complete required growth development courses/training hours.
- Perform duties that may include bending and lifting 30 pounds.
- Effectively train, supervise, utilize and partner with Co-Teachers, Assistant Teachers, Floaters, Interns or any other staff member assigned with/to you in the classroom.
- Keep up to date with and follow policies and procedures as set forth by DELACARE.
- Follow policies and procedures as set forth by LifeHouse Early Childhood Center and LifeHouse Church DE.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
