Contribute to the physical and emotional health of animals in our shelter and community by applying the principles of animal behavior as directed by the Behavior Specialist. Implement training and enrichment plans for shelter animals. Provide information and assistance to foster parents. Assist with training staff, volunteers, and foster parents to implement behavior plans.

· Provide excellent customer service and communications to adopters, fosters, coworkers, and volunteers.
· Implement training and enrichment plans for shelter animals.
· Assist with behavior observations.
· Perform data entry and keep accurate records on animal observations, notes, and interactions. Produce reports when requested.
· Organize and oversee volunteers who are assisting with behavior plan implementation.
· Work with foster parents to implement behavior plans for foster animals.
· Assist with Dogs Playing for Life play groups as needed.
· Participate in Placement team activities. Back-up Placement positions as needed.
· Provide direct animal care when needed.
· Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
· Experience in animal related field preferably demonstrating behavior modification knowledge.
· Excellent customer service skills.
· Dog training knowledge a plus.
· Knowledge in animal health and well-being to include nutrition needs, resources for information
· Must be available to work on weekends.
· Organized with excellent recordkeeping skills.
· Must pass background check and drug screening.
Education and/or Experience:
Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent. Three years’ experience in animal related field preferred.
Language Skills:
Must be able to read and interpret policy guidelines and policies and procedures. Must be able to communicate effectively to visitors, adopters, fosters, coworkers and volunteers.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
· Certification in euthanasia may be required.
· Valid, Georgia Driver’s license may be required.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, employee may be exposed to a kennel that is not air-conditioned and may be exposed to unpleasant kennel smells. May have to handle dogs and cats that are stray, injured, diseased or vicious.

Pay: From $16.00 per hour
