The Community Support Coordinator provides guidance and assistance to members of the public on various challenges including but not limited to strays, community cats, owner surrender requests, pet supply needs, and pet licensing. As a part of the Community Engagement Department, our goal is to help people keep pets in their homes.

Community Support:
· Strong animal handling skills with both cats and dogs that are not known.
· Provide a welcoming environment for all members of the public.
· Offer information on various resources including medical services, training recommendations, dog/cat behavior guidance, and general pet care.
· Give needed supplies that may be available such as food, crates, runners, collars, leashes, harness, bedding.
· Support owners with rehoming guidance when they no longer can keep their pet through discovery, conversation, and accommodating with resources.
· Assist individuals who lost their pets through online platforms and escorting around the center.
Data Collection:
· Document public interactions in the designated forms for strays, reclaims, owner surrenders, vet services, in-kind donations, and friendly finder agreements
· Upload and enter all information for the designated public interactions in PetPoint (animal database system).
· Make copies of identification for day-to-day processing with community members.
Administrative:
· Answer incoming phone calls and text messages.
· Respond to all voicemail messages in a timely manner.
· Return email and form inquiries via pethelp@dekalbanimalservices.com, lostandfound@dekalbanimalservices.com, and info@dekalbanimalservices.com.
· Process payments for any transactions such as reclaim fees, medical services, and licensing.
· Search and follow-up with contacts on owned animals/microchips - call, email and send out mailings when appropriate.
· Assist with cleaning and straightening the lobby for public interaction.
· Keep Community Support Supplies neat and organized in designated storage.
· Restock and arrange handouts.
· Unlock and open doors in the morning as directed.
· Clean and set-up a kennel when necessary for animal intake.
External & Internal Communications
· Serve as representative of Lifeline Animal Project and will conduct themselves in a professional and respectful manner at all times.
· Refrain from judging individuals during animal intake and serves each customer with equal consideration and dignity.
· Demonstrate initiative in everyday duties by seeking other work during down times, assisting other employees, and filling in where/when assistance is needed.
· Adhere to posted work schedule by arriving on time and promptly.
· Clock in and out appropriately each day and during breaks.
· Assist with visitor check-in and directing visitors appropriately based on the reason for their visit.
· Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
· Education equivalent to the completion of the 12th grade. Bachelor Degree preferred.
· Knowledge of general office practices and procedures as well telephone etiquette.
· Demonstrate ability to perform clerical work with speed and accuracy.
· Will follow instructions from supervisor/manager.
· Ability to complete assigned tasks in the time allotted with direct supervision.
· Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
· A commitment to outstanding client and customer service.
· Ability to lift objects weighing 40 pounds without assistance.
· Can stay on task and work energetically for an entire shift.
· Has a strong computer knowledge-base of various programs such as Microsoft Office, Google, CardPointe, and PetPoint.
· Exercises time management skills to maximize personal efficiency.
· Able to handle multiple tasks in a calm and organized manner.
· General animal behavior and care knowledge.
· Comfortable with interacting with members of the public day-to-day.
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy in communication, note documentation, and data entry.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, employee may be exposed to a kennel that is not air-conditioned and may be exposed to unpleasant kennel smells. May have to handle dogs and cats that are stray, injured, diseased or vicious.
