What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Records Clerk position at Lifeline RGV LLC?
This is office and clerical work environment. You will be working with patients, insurance, and Medical Facilities. Some driving is expected.
Job Requirements: English & Spanish (Required) & valid driver’s license with clean record (Required)
The ideal candidate will have experience in the office setting and good communication skills. Individual must have computer skills; strong customer service is also very important and good phone etiquette. You must be able to complete job assignments on a timely manner. If you have knowledge of various insurances it would be a strong plus. You must have the ability to adapt to flexible work schedules and frequent interruptions. Individual needs to exhibits professional appearance and possess willingness to improve in the job assignments.
Job Duties
The job duties will include the following, but are not limited to:
- Answering a high volume of phone calls
- Verification of insurances
- Verify scheduled appointment at doctor’s office and/or at facilities.
- Relaying instructions to patients/families; answering calls and providing pertinent information
- Notify senior medical records attendant of HMO appointments that are coming up (3-5 days before).
- Obtain / Verify insurance approval prior to services
- Completing transfer packet for next day’s transports for nursing home patients
- Requesting medical records as needed
- Compiling and recording medical charts, reports, and correspondence
- Verify necessary information and records in the medical record.
- Daily travels between facilities and doctor’s office as requested
- Resolving problems on an "as needed" basis
- Share problems relating to patients and/or staff, immediately to supervisors
- Other duties as assigned by management
Job Type: Full-time or Part-time M-F 8 am- 5 pm
