Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team at our fast-paced urgent care clinic. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our veterinarians in delivering excellent care to our animal patients and communicating with pet parents about their pet’s conditions. This position requires a love for animals, strong communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment where prioritizing urgent cases is essential. An ideal candidate will be willing to cross train with our client service representatives to allow for a seamless experience for our clients.
Responsibilities
- Collect thorough history from pet parents regarding their pet’s condition
- Accurately collect TPR - temperature, pulse and respiratory rates
- Assist veterinarians during patient examinations and treatments.
- Handle and restrain animals as needed for procedures and examinations.
- Open to learning basic laboratory tests such as blood draws, urine tests, and fecal analyses.
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam rooms and treatment areas.
- Monitor and record patient vital signs and behaviors.
- Assist with surgical preparations and post-operative care.
- Educate clients on basic animal care and procedures.
- Handle client inquiries, schedule appointments, and process payments when necessary
- Maintain inventory of medical supplies and alert management to low stock levels.
- Follow all clinic protocols and maintain compliance with regulatory standards.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; formal veterinary assistant training preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year experience working in a veterinary clinic or animal care facility.
- Strong understanding of animal behavior, restraint techniques, and basic medical terminology.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both with team members and clients.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Expected hours: 38 – 40 per week
