ABOUT LIFEMOVES :
LifeMoves is the largest and most effective provider of interim housing and services for homelessness in Silicon Valley, since 1987. Our mission has been providing interim housing and supportive services that create opportunities for homeless families and individuals to rapidly return to stable housing and self-sufficiency. With 26 shelter and service sites from Daly City to San Jose, LifeMoves gives our neighbors experiencing homelessness a temporary place to call home while providing intensive, customized case management through both site-based programs and community outreach.
POSITION PURPOSE :
LifeMoves seeks a Director of Contracts and Grants to oversee the direction and management of the LifeMoves Grants Department and reports to the VP, Grants, Contracts, and Compliance. This hybrid position has regular in-office days in the City of Santa Clara at least twice a week. The Director is responsible for developing and implementing effective strategies that secure contracts through competitive bids in public funding proposals supporting LifeMoves programs. This position manages the Grants team, oversees its activities, and writes proposals and reports in furtherance of the department’s deliverables. Activities include conducting research, collecting data, writing grant proposals and supporting material, and completing quarterly and incidental reports for funders. The Director may be required to present to relevant committees regarding funds raised and funding projections.
This position works closely with the Finance and Programs Departments to develop and monitor yearly revenue projections that align with LifeMoves’ strategic vision. The Director oversees research activities to identify and cultivate government and corporate funders that align with the agency's long-range strategic goals. The Director works closely with multiple program managers to identify appropriate collaborations to be pursued through mission-aligned grants. The Director also helps track federal, state, and local government policy trends and development.
This role qualifies for a hybrid schedule (2 days in the office, 3 days remotely).
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Works with the VP, Grants, Contracts and Compliance, Development, and Finance team to develop proposal budgets.
- Evaluate funding announcements for alignment and fit.
- Builds upon existing relationships and forges new ones with funders. Ensures information related to the application or award stage is communicated internally clearly and in a timely fashion.
- Develops and prioritizes projects and proposals.
- Leads and conducts grants management and contract compliance activities, including completing funder reporting on assigned timelines.
- Ensures program implementation and deliverables are aligned with grant agreements and program guides.
- Works with program teams to identify projects and programs that require support.
- Regularly leads meetings with the team to evaluate projects and programs and set funding priorities.
QUALIFICATIONS :
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :
Supervises three Senior Grant Writers; one Grant Writer.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS :
Up to 10% annually.
