We are a laboratory specializing in medical diagnostic testing for physicians and long-term care facilities. LifeScan Labs of Illinois is looking for a focused Specimen Processor to process specimens in our laboratory, and to respond to clients and phlebotomists’ inquiries. The Specimen Processor will confirm client and specimen details, and ascertain adequacy and appropriateness of specimens. You will ensure specimens are labeled and stored effectively, process specimens and dispose of older specimens. You will calibrate instruments, maintain equipment and sanitize your work environment.
To be successful in this position you need to follow procedures and ensure accuracy of data. Top candidates are organized, dexterous and perform to a high level of accuracy.
General Responsibilities:
- Perform all assigned job duties following laboratory policies and procedures.
- Process laboratory specimens with an emphasis on accuracy, timeliness, completeness, and compliance.
- Handle and dispose of all specimens following standard precautions and applicable safety policies.
- Investigate and resolve specimen issue(s) or test issue(s) to ensure timely and accurate reporting of results.
- Maintain accurate records of problems and problem resolution related to specimen processing, inventory, and equipment.
- Follow proper specimen identification procedures in the execution of all job duties.
Requirements
Successful candidates will have:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Excellent communication skills required.
- Detail oriented.
- PC skills.
- Ability to multitask and problem.
- Ability to learn policies and procedures and apply them in the workplace.
- Previous call center experience preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, or ability to learn medical terminology.
- Experience of 1 year(s) as a processor or customer service representative preferred.
Schedule
- Monday - Friday / Rotating Weekends 10:00AM - 6:30PM
- Monday - Friday / Rotating Weekends 10:00PM - 6:30AM
- Monday - Friday / Rotating Weekends 9:00AM - 5:30PM
Salary : $30,100 - $38,100
