Job Description: Individual who is dedicated in helping clients qualify for extra-help programs, public or private benefits, such as Medicaid and VA Aid & Attendance in Missouri and Kansas for long-term care, and assists those with disabilities, special needs, or elderly with their current health plan and related financial needs associated with medical and long-term care.

- Able to work a regular full-time weekly schedule from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Able to work longer occasionally, depending on deadlines as set-forth by the Medicaid Office.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages assigned caseload and follows processes associated with caseload
- Helps client and his/her loved ones understand types of medical insurance and long-term care payment options using their existing insurance or public, private, and disability benefits
- Meet with the Life Care Planning Team (Attorney, paralegal, Life Care Coordinator, etc.) and clients on strategy and implement the plan designed by the Attorney managing the case for the client – delegate to client as client may tolerate.
- Develops and maintains proactive working relationship with county/state/federal agencies relative to specific benefit (public or other)
- Markets Life Care Planning and Life Care Services provided through law firm
- Maintains working knowledge of all state and federal benefits programs and the requirements associated with each type of benefit (Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, etc.)
- Initiates and coordinates the application process (Medicaid, VA, Medicare, etc.) to facilitate accurate and appropriate submission
o Work with attorney’s paralegal to prepare paperwork to sell or transfer assets, including beneficiary designations, pay on death, transfer on death, deeds, etc.
o Research bank accounts, health insurance premiums, stock valuations, property valuations, etc. and assist clients in gathering documents for agency.
o Process resource assessments.
o Follow up with Medicaid office to ensure all paperwork is received, answer questions from Caseworkers, comply with requests and negotiate with Medicaid office as needed.
o Interface with nursing homes regarding the status of the Medicaid/VA application, follow up on Life Care Coordinator’s request for clinical eligibility.
o Redetermination as needed for clients that have renewed.
o Handle any Medicaid-related issues for Medicaid beneficiaries that are renewed clients, e.g. billing issues, unexpected Medicaid terminations, client questions as they arise.
- Guides client and family members to solutions with knowledge and through education regarding resources available through public or private benefits and other sources
- Promotes dignity and independence for client as he/she ages
Compensation and Benefits: Range $43,000 – 63,800, bonus; matching 401(k); healthcare insurance available, variable benefit programs; 4 weeks paid vacation and designated holidays; business development expenses and CLE/training
