POSITION SUMMARY:
Creates, maintains and delivers training materials and live instruction to Operations employees on topics including donor eligibility qualifications, blood collection techniques and procedures, automation, skill-based competencies, blood packaging and transport, and regulatory risk management. Provides coordination and oversight for completion of training records, standardization and compliance to training practices, monitoring performance of new technicians, and mentorships.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops detailed training outline and applies it with date expectations; maintains compliant and accurate training records.
- Creates, reviews and maintains print and electronic training modules; ensures employees follow and comply with modules and Training SOPs.
- Ensures all trainees follow and comply with Company policies, practices and procedures.
- Conducts skills development and assessment training sessions for mentors and other assigned trainers as necessary.
- Assists in coordinating or conducting audits of training records to ensure employees are fully-qualified to perform job duties.
- Regularly observes and supervises trainees in the field providing trainer observations.
- Creates and issues block exams and practical performance tests for assessing competencies.
- Manages the Learning Management System (LMS) and MasterControl training content for compliance and daily updates.
- Ensures the objectives of the department are met and all the projects delivered timely and accurately.
- Models LifeShare’s mission and values, integrating them into daily decisions, behaviors and actions.
- Promotes cooperation and communication within a team to achieve Company and departmental goals and deliverables.
- Meets and exceeds customer expectations and adhere to established quality practices while seeking to continually improve work performance.

Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
- Associate’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience required
- At least two (2) years of experience within the blood banking industry or related professional field preferred
- Knowledge of blood banking, phlebotomy and automated blood collection preferred
- Must be self-motivated to work independently without direct supervision
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Effective organizational, written and public speaking skills
- Ability to learn and utilize our LMS and other computer applications or multimedia programs
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING CONDITIONS / ENVIRONMENT:
- Position requires periods of sitting at desk and standing while observing trainees or conducting presentations
- Work requires frequent verbal and written communication and use of telephone and computer
- Work involves potential exposure to infectious diseases from blood and blood products
- Must be able to work with needles, tubes, blood bags, and other phlebotomy equipment/instruments
- Requires occasional travel within the community or to other centers and facilities, sometimes overnight; must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable by our commercial auto insurance carrier.
