Title: Peer Support Specialist - Male

Hours Status: Full-Time, M-F, 10a-6:30p
Pay Range: $13.25 hourly
POSITION SUMMARY:
Provide mentoring and support to adult men during residential services, transition from residential services and outpatient services.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record required.
- This position requires a male.
- Must be certified by as a Peer Specialist at time of hire or within first 6 months.
- Must be a self-identified person in recovery from a substance use disorder, who meets the abstinence requirements for recovery staff in alcohol and other drug treatment programs. Person must identify on the application or cover letter how they have “lived” personal experience leading to an understanding of the needs of persons with mental health & substance abuse issues.
SKILLS:
- Ability to communicate (verbal/written) and work effectively with peers, individual clients and groups, including ability to listen well, to negotiate, and to remain objective.
- Knowledge and skills in counseling techniques with individuals and groups and crisis intervention.
- Knowledge of de-escalation methods or ability to be trained in de-escalation methods.
