What are the responsibilities and job description for the VP Business Strategy and Planning position at Lifespan?

Summary:

Reporting to the SVP and Chief Strategy and Planning Officer the VP of Business Strategy & Planning is a vital role that will work in collaboration with the senior leadership team physician chairs/chiefs and hospital and physician organization presidents leading system-wide business development and strategic planning functions across the health system resulting in the overall growth and health of the organization. This dynamic position will lead initiatives related to business development strategies coordinate the implementation of approved business plans as necessary as well as oversee the implementation and monitoring of the systems annual strategic planning cycle. Responsibilities:

Working closely with the executive team members formulate and implement an enterprise strategic planning process and embed a system of accountability for execution on the initiatives identified.


Define support and drive current and future strategic initiatives; working with operations and physician leaders and the executive team to achieve our strategic and financial objectives; providing leadership insight coaching and inspiration.


Drive business plan development processing approvals and implementation including development and evaluation of ROIs.


Oversee strategy alignment and due diligence activities for system strategic partnerships including but not limited to physician practices joint ventures clinical affiliations etc.


Conduct market competitive and internal analysis to identify new growth opportunities (organic and inorganic).


Research and analyze market and industry dynamics and business opportunities through various methods actively share knowledge through multiple channels such as reports presentations summaries etc. of valid and reliable findings to system leaders and other key stakeholders for Lifespan.


Develop strong rapport and positive working relationships with Lifespan leaders the community and other stakeholders.


Build and retain a team of highly qualified professionals who demonstrate Lifespan's values and enhance the organizations ability to achieve its goals and results. Provide participatory leadership to the staff necessary to maintain a motivated productive and competent team.

QUALIFICATIONS-EDUCATION:

Bachelor�s degree required. A Masters in Business Administration Finance/Accounting or related discipline is strongly preferred.


QUALIFICATIONS-EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of seven (7) years of successful business development experience preferably in a complex integrated delivery health system.


Experience assessing growth areas such as changes to clinical programming partnerships joint ventures mergers and acquisitions and building associated business plans.


Experience in developing and implementing a strategic planning process and collaboration across a highly complex (health care provider) organization.

Sophisticated understanding of market trends healthcare operations competitive strategy physician recruitment service line development medical referral relationships in academic medical center settings as well as the economic social and legal environments relevant to these areas.
