Position Summary: Dispatcher/ Call Taker will be responsible for answering phones, scheduling calls, help control the daily schedule and ensure that all calls are handled in the most efficient manner. The employee is responsible for making sure that all crews are accounted for and on time for their scheduled calls.
Position Responsibilities:
- Answer telephone calls
- Schedule calls with the approval of the main Dispatcher
- Control the daily schedule in the most efficient manner possible.
- Receives and dispatches 911 calls via Active 911 and landline based telephone from the 911 communications center as needed.
- Answers radio traffic transmitted on the Verizon push to talk cell phone as needed.
- Making sure that all equipment is checked in and stored properly when crews return for the day.
- Checking in trucks to ensure they are left in proper order when needed.
- Has a thorough knowledge of all dispatch software and equipment used for managing crews and schedule.
- Understanding of process
- Ensures that work area is always clean and organized.
- Prepares/ updates truck and crew logs for evening and night shifts.
- Understands all applicable legal, moral and ethical issues surrounding emergency medical service.
- Prepares required records/reports as needed.
- Delivers polite, compassionate service to everyone regardless of race, age, sex, religion, national origin or ability to pay.
- Establishes and maintains a positive working relationship with coworkers, patients, families, hospital and facility staff and other cooperating agencies.
- Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of safety procedures.
- Performs in a calm, resourceful manner in at all times.
- Perform station duties as assigned
- Must understand and adhere to LifeStar Emergency Services and partnered protocols
- Reports any issues to the Administrative Manager
- Other duties as required
