LifeStream is a behavioral health and social services organization that provides high-quality treatment, education, care management, rehabilitation, child welfare, primary care and homeless services to children, adolescents, and adults. Located in Central Florida, LifeStream primarily serves the residents of Lake, Citrus and Sumter Counties, with additional programs located in Orange, Marion, Hernando counties.
RESIDENTIAL SPECIALIST (Shift II)
JOB SUMMARY : The Residential Specialist works cooperatively to assist homeless individuals to access services and benefits to overcome their homelessness. The Residential Specialist will work directly with participants on a daily basis to maintain the house and ensure that program standards are being met. The Resident Specialist is responsible for maintaining integrity at all times. All duties will be performed in a courteous manner, allowing participants and staff to maintain a healthy sense of self-worth while maintaining a safe and sober environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Advocates in the client's best interest, assesses needs and develops a plan to meet those needs and provides security / reception services, maintains sign-in / out logs and monitors traffic;
- Acts as role model and encourages program participation from residents;
- Under the supervision of the Director, ensures that the environment is safe and residents are adhering to house rules, program policies and regulations;
- Makes hourly observation rounds and documents in communication book;
- Communicates incidents to supervisory staff;
Participates in house meetings, in-house and off-site safety programs, conflict resolution, violence diffusion, HIV sensitivity / confidentiality and other relevant trainings.
Assist management in the overall supervision and administration of daily operations of Anthony House in order to develop satisfying solutions for the participants.
General monitoring of participants to ensure that a safe, quiet and friendly atmosphere is maintained and that house rules are complied with, that duties and directives are carried out on time and according to professional standards, and that the facility is kept clean and orderly at all times.
Provide information for problem solving involving daily operations giving specific attention to house job assignments, transportation, participant appointments, telephone answering, treatment functions and rehabilitation coordination.
Coordinate with management regarding arrangements for participants and follow up on assignments.
Coordinate with management and participants in the keeping of records, other necessary paperwork and important communication.
Provide appropriate involvement in coordination with other staff and participants so that health, safety and security measures are adhered to.
Advise participants as to their attitude, dress, vocabulary, behavior and related areas that affect success in the program.
Communicate with program management, co-workers and participants regarding policies, procedures and special circumstances.
Assist staff as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure appropriate levels of treatment for the consumers.
When assigned, facilitate recovery and substance abuse educational groups and life skills groups.
Assist with transportation as needed.
Assist participants to integrate back into the community with employment and permanent housing, and increase self-autonomy and self-reliance.
Completes required agency, funding, legal, statistical and fiscal documentation in an accurate and timely manner
The ability to comply with the regulations requiring a workplace of dignity and respect and equal employment opportunity compliance.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE :
Education : High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience : A minimum at least one (1) year work experience in a residential program setting and / or human services related field. Equivalent training and experience on a year-for-year basis in a related field will be considered.
Driving Requirements :
Must be Over the age of 21 required
Minimum of 5-years driving experience required
Possess a Valid FL Driver's license (within 30 days of hire if currently do not possess)
Possess a continuously valid US Driver's license for the past three years, from date of issue required
Safe Driving record required
