Ophthalmic Technician/Scribe

Preferences:
- Bilingual skills in English and Spanish

Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostic tests and measurements on patients' eyes, including visual acuity and intraocular pressure.
- Assist ophthalmologists in various procedures, such as eye exams, surgeries, and laser treatments.
- Administer eye drops and medications as directed by the ophthalmologist.
- Educate patients on proper eye care, common eye conditions and surgery processes.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records using electronic medical record systems.
- Clean and sterilize ophthalmic instruments and equipment.
- Schedule patient appointments and manage the front desk as needed.

Qualifications:
- Previous experience as an ophthalmic technician or in a related field preferred.
- Knowledge of ophthalmology procedures, equipment, and terminology.
- Familiarity with sterile technique and infection control practices.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality.
- Proficiency in using electronic medical record systems, such as Modernizing Medicine.
- Ability to perform basic vital signs measurements accurately.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Knowledge of medical coding principles is a plus.
- Understanding of anatomy related to the eye and visual system.
