What are the responsibilities and job description for the Executive Chef position at LifeSync Malibu Detox?
LifeSync is Malibu's premier drug and alcohol detox and residential center. It is the only physician owned and operated treatment center in Malibu. At LifeSync, our clients will get a customized program of care designed specifically by Geoffrey A. Booth, M.D. The Chef oversees all food services for LifeSync Malibu Healing Center.
Job Duties:
- Lunch preparation: Monday -Friday by 12:00pm. This meal should consist of
healthful food and be well-presented buffet style in the dining room.
- Dinner Preparation: Monday- Friday by 5:00pm. This meal should consist of healthful
food and be well-presented buffet style in the dining room.
- Kitchen maintenance standards: It is the chef’s responsibility to maintain the
cleanliness of the entire kitchen. This includes weekly cleaning of all refrigerators,
weekly cleaning of kitchen cabinets (inside and out), daily maintenance and organization
of the pantry, and monthly defrost and cleaning out of all freezers.
- Inventory: It is the chef’s responsibility to maintain inventory lists on all food and
equipment in the house. The chef should have meals planned out a few days in advance
and make sure the ingredients necessary to prepare those meals are in stock. The main
food shopping should be done on Mondays and Thursdays promptly after lunch. Stock of
food and pantry items should continually be rotated on a first in first out basis.
- The house should be well stocked with easily accessible items for clients to partake of
(i.e. snack items, fruit/fruit salad, yogurts, etc.).
- The Chef is to leave at least two prepared meals in the refrigerator that clients can easily
cook over the weekend.
- Oversee all foo services for LifeSync Malibu Healing Center
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be able to work with a diverse population
- At least two years experience in food and meal preparation in a residential setting
- Must pass criminal background check
- Clean driving record
- Must be able to provide three professional references
Physical Demands:
- This position may include some lifting (under 35 lbs)
- This position requires carrying groceries and supplies from vehicle to storage
- This position requires standing for periods of time
Work Environment:
- Work is primarily performed indoors in the house kitchen
- Work can become stressful at times with certain deadlines
- Regular kitchen hazards apply
- The noise level in this environment is low to moderate.
