Job Overview
The Individualized Skills and Socialization (ISS) Alternate plays a crucial role in providing support and assistance to individuals in need of personalized care. This position focuses on enhancing the social skills and daily living abilities of clients, ensuring they receive the highest quality of care in a safe and nurturing environment. The ISS Alternate will work closely with clients to promote independence, facilitate social interactions, and support their overall well-being.

Responsibilities

  • Assist clients with daily living activities, including cooking and cleaning, to promote a comfortable home environment.
  • Implement individualized care plans that focus on skill development and socialization.
  • Monitor client health and well-being, providing patient monitoring as needed.
  • Engage clients in meaningful activities that foster social interaction and community involvement.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to maintain client confidentiality and privacy.
  • Provide first aid when necessary and respond appropriately to any emergencies or health concerns.
  • Collaborate with families, caregivers, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive care for clients.
  • Document client progress and report any changes in behavior or health status to appropriate personnel.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have a valid Texas Driver’s license.
  • Must have current and valid vehicle insurance.
  • Must pass a criminal background check (No DUI convictions in the past 10 years, No convictions for crimes of violence, substance abuse, or of a sexual nature).
  • Must have at least two years of experience working with individuals with IDD.
  • Have thorough understanding of activity planning and implementation for individuals with special needs.
  • Outstanding customer service and being bilingual (preference, but not a requirement).
  • Must have great time management skills and the ability to multitask.
  • Able to operate a computer and be proficient in MS office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook); able to operate standard office equipment, including fax/scan/copy machines, office telephones, etc.
  • Able to work and communicate with individuals with special needs, mental health diagnoses, and maladaptive behaviors.
  • Able to be flexible, adapt and respond to change, make decisions in stressful situations and prioritize tasks and projects.
  • Must communicate verbally and in writing in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Must be able to communicate (speak, read, and write) in English and articulate clearly.
  • Must be reliable in attendance and timeliness to work schedule.
  • Must demonstrate great organizational skills.
  • Ability to use body mechanics in controlling unpredictable behavior.
  • Ability to participate in physical activities.
  • Must demonstrate basic math skills.
  • Must observe the environment using the various physical senses.
  • Must have valid CPR & First Aid Certification or be willing to complete training within the first 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Help the ISS Administrator Develop ISS program curriculum, resources, and supplies to meet all participant needs with input from Support Team. Serve as a resource to in seeking strategies and program ideas.
  • Assume leadership responsibilities for the delivery of ISS services when necessary.
  • Train ISS employees in all areas of the participants’ needs and/or arrange for the necessary training.
  • Teach individual and group activities that focus on developing or maintaining life skills and community integration.
  • Provide personal care to participants in the ISS program.
  • Meet the medical needs of participants in the ISS program.
  • Assist participants to access community resources.
  • Follow all safety procedures and promote safety measures among the ISS team and participants.
  • Ensure the ISS area is organized and cleaned up at the end of the day and prepared for the next day’s activities.

Day to Day Responsibilities & Duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Check in daily with ISS Manager
  • Step in as PRN ISS staff.
  • Assist team leads in Client chart audits.
  • Ensuring past and current logs are completed correctly.
  • Assist in transporting clients for appointments.
  • Check Mars weekly.
  • Coordinate and communicate with ISS Manager and other leads.
  • Attend outings with ISS program.
  • Facilitate training for In-Home ISS providers.
  • Help with home visits at In- Home ISS locations.
  • Complete other tasks as instructed.

Other responsibilities of the ISS Administrator Alternate include help with oversight and maintenance of the ISS environment/location. If the ISS Administrator is unavailable ensure ISS Teal Leads submit requests of supplies as needed and ordering as needed without delay. Collaborating with the ISS Administrator in creating and coordinating curriculums, agendas, participant-oriented tasks, schedules, outings, and monthly calendars of ISS events. Maintaining participant ISS related documents in appropriate and designated locations (public server, on-site/off-site binders, etc.). in the absence of the ISS Administrator completing and submitting participant ISS documents to Lifetime Living Administrative offices/departments as outlined in Lifetime Living’s protocols & procedures. Greeting and interacting with all participants and families as needed to facilitate the participants’ attendance and participation in the ISS program. Monitoring, supervising, and giving directions to ISS team members/direct care staff as they assist in the delivery of the ISS services to our participants. Participants’ care can include but is not limited to feeding, toileting, administering medications, reduction of challenging behavior, and assisting with independent living skills. Our goal is to provide ISS participants with the best care possible that caters to their individual needs while fostering their independence. Lastly, but most importantly, keeping an open line of communication with ISS Administrators and other Lifetime Living personnel.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $14.00 - $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
