Direct Support Professional
As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. You will assist clients with daily activities, ensuring their needs are met while promoting independence and dignity.
Responsibilities:
- Provide personal care and support to individuals with disabilities in accordance with their care plans.
- Assist clients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, meal preparation, grocery shopping, and other daily needs.
- Monitor and document client progress, reporting any changes in behavior or health status.
- Advocate for resident rights and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Support clients in community integration activities, encouraging social interaction and engagement.
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment by adhering to all safety protocols and procedures.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Proficiency in First Aid and CPR techniques (Certification can be obtained at the time of hire).
- Experience in home health care or working with individuals with disabilities is preferred.
- Knowledge of patient monitoring techniques and the ability to recognize changes in client conditions.
- Familiarity with resident rights and ethical considerations in direct support roles.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure client confidentiality.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and team members.
- Ability to develop and follow individualized care plans tailored to each client's needs.
- Compassionate demeanor with a strong commitment to providing high-quality care.
