What are the responsibilities and job description for the Deflection Navigator position at Lifeways?
Full-time 40 hours/week
Deflection is collaborative program between law enforcement agencies and behavioral health entities that assists individuals who may have substance use disorder, another behavioral health disorder or co-occurring disorders, to create community-based pathways to treatment, recovery support services, housing, case management or other services.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (This is not an exhaustive list of all duties/responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned)
- Ability to assist individuals who may have substance use disorder, other behavioral health disorder, or co-occurring disorders.
- Build rapport with individuals experiencing addiction and mental health issues.
- Create community-based pathways to treatment, recovery support services, housing, case management, or other services.
- Work with clients in gaining life skills to support management of symptoms.
- Help individuals plan for appointments, share problem-solving skills, and assist with system access skills.
- Model a healthy recovery lifestyle and assist with incorporating such skills into daily living.
- Support clients in expanding their social and recovery support networks.
- Advocate for benefits & entitlements on behalf of client.
- Work collaboratively with treatment team and community partners (i.e. law enforcement agencies & behavioral health entities).
Required:
- MHACBO certified CRM (Certified Recovery Mentor) or eligible to become certified
- Self-identified person in recovery from an addiction disorder, who meets the abstinence requirements for recovering staff in an alcohol or other drug treatment program (1 year)
- Valid drivers license
- Completion of Tuberculosis screening
- Proof of covid vaccine, or religious or medical exception
- Must pass a background check
Preferred:
- Bilingual/multilingual
- Highschool Diploma or GED
- Experience with working with population affected with SPMIs across multiple systems (jail, hospital, crisis)
- Experience with electronic medical records and telemedicine
