Bilingual Family Advocate,

The Bilingual Family Advocate provides limited skills training and support services in the clients' home to help families work toward harmony; learn to support each other through everyday challenges and to reach everyday goals.Location : Position is community based with office at ODHS. (Washington County)Pay / Benefits : $25.92 starting hourly pay plus full benefits. (Spanish Language differential included)Essential Responsibilities : Meets productivity standards as defined by the performance review including face to face contact with clients and maintaining a full case load.Continually increases level of cultural sensitivity, awareness and competency. Actively participates in a minimum of four hours of training related to cultural effectiveness in working with diverse populations.Works with families and service providers to minimize the potential for child abuse; makes home visits to families.Provides skills training, parent education, and support services in the home. Plans and coordinates lessons for each session.Helps families recognize their personal strengths and develops a plan of action to address areas in which they want to improve. Consults with supervisor on cases involving potential domestic abuse or other family problems affecting clients' development.Links families with community resources. Collaborates with community partners.Uses program outcome measures as assigned.Maintains chart notes related to external contracts, tracks client's involvement, follow-through and progress in program activities. Documents and maintains client records to ensure compliance with agency and contract guidelines and confidentiality. Completes documentation in an electronic health records system and scheduling program within agency specified timelines.Participates in regular individual meetings with supervisor and attends informational and clinical meetings which may include all-agency meetings, team meetings, consultation meetings with community partners, intra-agency trainings, etc. and completes trainings as assigned.Travels between sites or in the community.Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in area of specialization directly related to work performed e.g., psychology, counseling, social work, etc. or a minimum of 3 years of prior experience with the related population.Bilingual (English / Spanish) fluency required.Additional 2 years of specific experience providing skills training or related services to high-risk families.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively; understand mental health assessment, treatment and service terminology and individual, group, family and other counseling techniques; program policies and procedures for services and supports identified in an Individual Services and Supports Plan.Demonstrated ability to provide culturally competent treatment services to diverse client populations and maintain a cooperative working relationship with others in a culturally diverse environment.Demonstrated ability to provide case management services and compliance with confidentiality in accordance with federal, state and / or funding source requirements.Knowledge of community resources and treatment agencies enabling appropriate referrals for specific client needs.Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and Word. Ability to master proprietary software including electronic health record system required.Requires access to a car and a valid driver's license.Performing General Physical Activities : Performing physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as standing, sitting, lifting up to and occasionally 25-50 lbs., walking, reaching and twisting.LifeWorks NW is a private, non-profit organization providing prevention, mental health, substance use treatment, and related social services to youths, adults, and older adults in over fifteen locations throughout Multnomah, Washington, and Clackamas counties.
