What are the responsibilities and job description for the Transportation Operator position at Lift For Life Academy?
Lift For Life Academy is seeking a Transportation Operator to facilitate internal communications within the transportation department, while also communicating externally with the students, parents, and families served.
This is a part-time position with early Morning and/or later Afternoon Hours available up to 29-hours per week.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & STANDARDS AS TRANSPORTATION OPERATOR:
- Answers incoming calls and communicates information to/from students, parents, and families as to the status of a bus route pick-up time, drop-off and/or other information.
- Communicate questions and concerns received via phone to the Transportation Director for further investigation and/or addressing as needed (i.e. safety concerns, alleged complaints, etc.).
- Communicates directly via phone and/or email with other building/executive leadership team member important information that cannot be addressed by the Transportation Director immediately or may impact the educational program.
- Utilize the bus routing software to communicate bus route and demographic when answering calls and attempting to address questions and/or concerns.
- Communicate effectively from dispatch with drivers while they are running their assigned routes..
- Provide direction and guidance to parents and students as to various school/departmental procedures, such as, how to change a bus stop or submit a request for an additional stop.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Minimum combination of two years of reception and/or administrative assistant experience.
- Any experience with driving or working for a school or metro bus company is preferred.
- Ability to exhibit a patient and understanding customer service approach when communicating with parents/families and students.
- Ability to utilize a computer effectively to look up student information and communicate via email and utilize bus routing software.
- Ability to multitask in an environment where multiple calls might be taking place simultaneously.
- Professional appearance.
- Ability to work in the early morning hours (as early as 5:30 am) and/or work a morning and afternoon split shift.
- Must have a positive attitude, a good sense of humor and a problem solver.
Compensation for this position is $18-$20 based on experience and will report directly to the Transportation Director.
