Job Description:
The Culinary Arts instructor will lead classes of various skill levels in culinary arts for our youth and adult arts programs. This instructor will work to create lesson plans that help students grow in independent life skills and encourage investment in themselves, their special interests, and their futures. The instructor will create and maintain a system that encourages the students to grow and learn while celebrating their achievements and building confidence

Our Breathe Program serves youth (grades 5-12) and adults, providing creative and therapeutic experiences in visual arts, music, dance, yoga, and culinary arts. We believe in the power of artistic expression and life skills to foster confidence, healing, and personal growth.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate Culinary Arts Instructor to lead engaging, hands-on cooking and baking classes for youth and adults. This role is ideal for someone who loves cooking, enjoys working with diverse populations, and wants to make a lasting impact through culinary education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a fun, skill-building culinary curriculum tailored to both youth and adults.
- Teach cooking techniques, meal planning, and food safety best practices.
- Guide participants through hands-on cooking demonstrations and meal preparation.
- Teach proper use of kitchen tools, appliances, and sanitation procedures.
- Create an inclusive, engaging, and supportive learning environment.
- Develop a skill-based achievement system to track student progress.
- Empower participants with practical life skills to promote independence and self-care.
- Serve as a mentor and positive role model, providing encouragement and support.
- Foster a sense of community, creativity, and teamwork in the kitchen.
- Manage class budgets and document expenditures as needed.
- Collaborate with program staff to align lessons with wellness and personal development goals.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Training or experience in culinary arts, food preparation, or a related field.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and proper sanitation practices.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience working with children, adolescents, or individuals in recovery is a plus.
- Ability to create engaging, hands-on lesson plans.
- Passion for mentoring, community engagement, and using food as a tool for healing.
- Ability to adapt lessons to participants’ diverse needs and backgrounds.
