What are the responsibilities and job description for the Care Team Leader - High Commitment Shelter position at Light Of Life Rescue Mission?
For over 70 years, Light of Life Rescue Mission has been a safe refuge for homeless and hurting people in the Pittsburgh area. We are currently seeking a full-time Care Team Leader for our High Commitment Shelter & Transitional Housing Program. This person will walk alongside clients to help them become self-aware and independent within a grace-filled, healing environment.
The role is located at Light of Life's new Ridge Recovery Place and reports to the Manager of Men's Longterm Programs.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Exercise command authority over managing the day-to-day care of clients in the High Commitment Shelter and Men's Transitional Housing.
- Tracks clients' Care Plan progress through one-on-one discussions and MissionTracker
- Has veto authority over any proposed activity that does not follow Light of Life principles and/or is unhealthy or harmful to recovery.
- Networks with related service providers to access needed services for clients and ensure delivery.
- Leads weekly house meeting and multiple on-site visits per week at Transitional Housing
- Facilitates and develops curriculum for classes.
- Provides input into Care Team decisions.
- Exercises communication authority over decisions affecting High Commitment Shelter and Transitional Housing.
- Exercises input authority over client issues.
- Performs other duties, as needed.
Due to the interface with the clients, all jobs at Light of Life require employees to:

KEY SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, collaborative, able to work effectively with diverse groups of people.
- Ability to show genuine Christian love to clients
- Ability to build relationships and show interest in others.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, human services, or related field
- Master's degree and/or licensed counselor preferred
- Bible training a plus
- Knowledge from formal and experiential training in drug and alcohol recovery and mental illness
- Two to four years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Database experience preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
