Job Description:

The Medical Director is responsible for managing and supervising the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (“PMHNPs”) in connection with Light On Anxiety’s psychiatric medication management practice. They will be responsible for the implementation and oversight of an evidence-based, high-quality medical management program for child, adolescent and adult clients. The Medical Director will work collaboratively with operational leadership to design and oversee prescriber operations, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and provide continuous program enhancement. They will serve as a manager and collaborating physician to Light On Anxiety’s Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners and ensure the efficiency, effectiveness and service excellence of psychiatric services. This role will be about 15 hours per week. We are open to more hours if you are also open to prescribing. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead efforts to promote and ensure the delivery of safe, efficient and evidence-based psychiatric services.
  • Act as Collaborating Physician for all Practice PMHNPs in accordance and compliance with all Illinois laws and regulations governing collaborating physicians.
  • Provide on-call support for PMHNPs at all times as required by Illinois law and regulations.
  • Oversee all clinical documentation for PMHNPs and conduct internal quality audits to ensure best practices and protocols for clinical care and coding are followed and optimized.
  • Monitor and evaluate the drugs dispensed by the Practice’s personnel to clients, including meeting with PMHNPs weekly or as required by law.
  • Partner with operational leadership to develop, implement and train on procedures and standards of excellence in quality, clinical care and patient experience.
  • Partner with operational leadership to identify gaps and continuously improve processes that support patient experience while delivering safe, high-quality care.
  • Partner with Knowledge Management to support an effective and scalable clinical training program for prescribers.
  • Partner with the Director of Practice Management to manage PMHNPs, promote performance excellence and maintain compliance with clinical operational processes and policies.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with clinical and operational leadership to identify and address gaps in employee performance.
  • Actively seek continuing education to stay informed of evidence-based treatment protocols for anxiety and related disorders.
  • Maintain familiarity with state and federal regulations related to the provision of psychiatric medication services and ensure that all psychiatric care is delivered in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and ethical standards.
  • Participate in the recruitment of PMHNPs for the Practice, including conducting interviews.
  • Serve as a Practice Ambassador and effectively represent the Practice’s culture, expectations, offerings, and policies to internal and external stakeholders
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications


Required Qualifications:

  • Medical degree from an accredited institution
  • Board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry
  • Unrestricted medical license in the state of Illinois
  • Unrestricted controlled substances license in the state of Illinois
  • Minimum of 5 years psychiatry experience
  • A desire to work across the age spectrum with children, adolescents and adults.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in a medical leadership role
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including conflict-resolution
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of healthcare professionals, including PMHNPs, therapists and administrative staff
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards related to psychiatric care in Illinois
  • Advanced critical thinking, sound judgment and a proven problem-solving ability
  • Proficient knowledge of integrated delivery systems, behavioral health operations and best practices
  • Excellent time management and the ability to prioritize and balance multiple, diverse priorities
  • Positive response to unpredictable situations or problems that can occur throughout your work responsibilities
  • Drive to actively seek out new projects, institute change and create a fun, rewarding and professional work environment
