Responsibilities
As a School-Based Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) at Light Street Special Education Solutions, a division of LEARN Academy, you play a vital role in supporting the delivery of comprehensive special education services to children with communication needs. Working under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), you assist in implementing evidence-based interventions that enhance students' communication skills and success in their educational environment.
Your responsibilities span across various school settings, interacting with teachers, administrators, parents, and other therapy professionals to ensure a cohesive approach to student care. You support the IEP process by planning and implementing treatment plans, documenting response to therapeutic intervention, and monitoring progress toward individualized education program (IEP) goals.

Essential Job Responsibilities
- Assist the SLP in conducting speech and language screenings using established protocols without interpretation.
- Implement speech and language therapy activities designed by the SLP that align with students' IEP goals and educational needs.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to support the integration of speech and language strategies into the educational curriculum.
- Prepare therapy materials and equipment for use in classroom and therapy activities as determined by student needs.
- Document student progress toward meeting established objectives and report this information to the supervising SLP.
- Maintain accurate records of student assessments, interventions, and progress.
- Participate in team meetings and professional development activities to stay current with best practices in school-based speech-language pathology.
- Assist in organizing classroom activities by preparing educational materials and creating an orderly learning environment.
- Support early intervening services by participating in multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) or response to intervention (RTI) initiatives under SLP guidance
- Use assistive technology devices for communication as directed by the SLP.

Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in speech-language pathology
- Maintain AZ SLPA license
- Valid IVP Fingerprint card
