Reports To: Chief Financial Officer
The Financial Controller at Lightbridge Corporation will lead and participate in our accounting and financial reporting functions. The ideal candidate is a results-driven “hands-on” leader with extensive knowledge of accounting principles, financial management, and corporate governance.
The Financial Controller will be responsible for all accounting operations, ensuring compliance with SEC regulatory requirements, optimizing financial processes, and providing key insights to support strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the CFO and executive team to develop and execute financial strategies
- Drive continuous improvement in accounting processes and financial systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy
- Manage all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial reporting
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, SEC regulations, Sarbanes-Oxley Act, and other financial regulations
- Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets
- Preparation of financial statements, quarterly and annual reports, and other regulatory filings
- Participate in tax planning, compliance, and reporting to ensure optimal tax efficiency
- Manage external audits and relationships with auditors, regulators, and financial institutions
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and professional development to a small accounting team
- Monitor financial performance and provide insights to support business decisions and strategic growth
- Provide support on the implementation of an ERP accounting system
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA or equivalent certification preferred but not required
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (MBA) preferred but not required
- 8 years of progressive experience in accounting leadership roles, preferably in publicly traded companies
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, SEC reporting, and internal controls
- Financial Planning and Analysis
- Experience managing a small accounting team and leading financial transformation initiatives
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and advanced Excel skills
- Public Company, Big Audit Firm, or Nuclear a plus!
