This role is pivotal in securing and managing Google Workspace (G Suite) environments, ensuring robust identity management, access controls, data protection, and compliance with federal security standards.
As a Senior Security Engineer, you will be responsible for developing security policies, implementing authentication mechanisms, mitigating threats, and enhancing compliance measures in a Google-based collaboration and productivity ecosystem. You will work closely with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment, providing expertise in securing Google Workspace services such as Gmail, Google Drive, Google Meet, Google Chat, and Cloud Identity.
This full time, hybrid role requires 2-3 days per week onsite in Washington, DC.

Responsibilities:
Security Engineering & Google Workspace (G Suite) Administration
- Design, implement, and manage security policies and access controls across Google Workspace (G Suite), including Google Drive, Gmail, Google Meet, Google Chat, Google Cloud Identity, and other Google services
- Configure and monitor Google Workspace Security Center, Google Admin Console, and Google Vault to enhance threat detection, logging, and response
- Implement Data Loss Prevention (DLP) strategies, Zero Trust frameworks, and advanced email security measures (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) within Google’s ecosystem
- Strengthen Identity and Access Management (IAM) controls, including Google Cloud Identity, Single Sign-On (SSO), OAuth security, and API security
- Develop automated security response mechanisms leveraging Google Cloud Functions, BigQuery, and Security Command Center
- Investigate and respond to security incidents related to Google Workspace, OAuth permissions, and API integrations
- Perform Google Workspace API audits to ensure compliance with security policies and government regulations
- Ensure adherence to NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, FISMA, DISA STIGs, and other federal cybersecurity compliance frameworks
- Conduct regular security assessments, penetration testing, and risk analysis for Google Workspace environments
- Develop and maintain security policies, procedures, and governance frameworks for Google Cloud services
- Collaborate with IT, compliance, and cybersecurity teams to ensure continuous compliance with government security regulations
- Provide support for Security Operations Center (SOC) teams, forensic analysis, and threat intelligence related to Google-based environments
- Work with DevSecOps, IT, and security teams to enhance cloud security posture
- Conduct security training and awareness programs for users on Google Workspace best practices
- Assist in incident response, threat hunting, and vulnerability management specific to Google services
- Evaluate, recommend, and implement new security tools, automation processes, and emerging Google security technologies
- US Citizenship
- Active Top Secret clearance is strongly preferred (Secret clearance holders will be considered)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Information Systems, or a related field
- 5 years of experience in cybersecurity engineering, cloud security, or IT security, with a focus on Google Workspace (G Suite)
- Strong expertise in Google Admin Console, Security Center, Google Vault, and Cloud Identity
- Hands-on experience with Google Workspace API security, OAuth configurations, and API integrations
- Proficiency in DLP, Zero Trust architectures, IAM (Google Cloud Identity), and advanced email security protocols (SPF, DKIM, DMARC)
- Experience with SIEM/SOAR platforms, threat detection, and security logging within Google environments
- Strong knowledge of federal security frameworks such as NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, FISMA, and DISA STIGs
- Experience working in on-premises, cloud, and hybrid security environments
- Google Professional Collaboration Engineer or Google Professional Cloud Security Engineer certification
- Hands-on experience with Google Chronicle, BeyondCorp, Google Security Command Center, and other Google Cloud security tools
- Knowledge of PowerShell, Python, or Bash scripting for security automation
- Familiarity with Splunk, Elastic Security, or Google Security Command Center for threat monitoring and response
- Experience implementing Zero Trust security models in a federal environment
