Summary: The Plumbing Sales Estimator’s primary responsibility is to accurately estimate the cost of plumbing projects for construction or renovation.  This roll is crucial in helping prepare competitive bids, win projects, and execute them while delivering high quality plumbing services. This roll will also execute company goals and objectives by professionally presenting the company, its products, and programs to qualified customers and prospects within the assigned territory; sales personnel are polite, friendly, and professional. 

 

Work ScheduleThis is primarily a weekday job, commission position requiring at least 40 -50 hours per week. Some travel and afterhours emergency support are required to support the client, field professionals, and potential client needs and demands.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients while actively seeking new business opportunities
  • Develop a deep understanding of the company’s plumbing products and services, including their features, applications, and benefits, to effectively educate and persuade customers
  • Complete bid proposals
  • Conduct product presentations and demonstrations to potential customers to showcase the value of the plumbing products and services
  • Provide accurate quotes and pricing information to customers, negotiate terms, and close sales deals
  • Stay updated on industry trends, competitors, and market conditions to identify opportunities for growth and stay competitive
  • Develop and implement sales strategies, plans, and goals to achieve and exceed sales targets
  • Consult with customer to understand their specific plumbing needs and recommend appropriate solutions
  • Offer after-sales support, address customer inquiries, and provide technical assistance if required
  • Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, sales, and other relevant data in the company’s CRM system
  • Prepare regular sales reports and forecasts for management, highlighting achievements, challenges, and recommendations for improvement
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as marketing, technical support, and operation, to ensure a smooth sales process and customer satisfaction
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and industry standards
  • Any other duties needed to help drive our vision and fulfill our mission, while abiding by the JH core

 

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Understanding of plumbing products and systems is essential
  • Thorough comprehension of cost estimating
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary for building and maintaining client relationships

 

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Identify customer needs and recommend appropriate solutions
  • Strong organizational skills to manage leads, quotes, and customer interactions effectively
  • Basic technical knowledge to understand and explain complex plumbing solutions
  • Proficiency in sales techniques, including negotiation, objection handling, and closing deals
  • Work independently with minimal supervision  
  • Self-starter, with the ability to stay focused on goals and be self-disciplined  
  • Maintain a positive attitude while handling rejection  
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time  
  • Enthusiasm and positivity  
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols, including wearing appropriate protective gear and following safety procedures when operating equipment
  • Consistent JOHN core value alignment: Get It, Want It, Capacity (GWC) in alignment with position duties and expectations

 

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Closing percentage: 50%
  • Average sale: $8,000.00
  • Options per opportunity: 2

KPIs are evaluated at least annually and are subject to change based on manager’s discretion and/or company goals.

 

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

  • BA/BS with a concentration in engineering, construction management, project management or other related technical experience and education in a related field is preferred
  • Minimum of four years’ experience as an estimator or related experience preferred
  • Experience in plumbing preferred

Physical and Safety Requirements:

  • Remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
  • Move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, ext.
  • Complete tasks in a noisy environment
  • Move boxes and/or equipment weighing up to 20 pounds across office for various needs
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols, including wearing appropriate protective gear and following safety procedures when operating equipment
  • Report safety hazards and incidents immediately

Job Requirements & Benefits:

  • Must be 18 years old or older
  • This is a full-time commission position
  • A truck professionally wrapped
  • Weekly pay

  • Valid Driver’s License with clean DMV record is a must to drive for John Henry’s
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening and physical
