To meet the increasing needs of our communities it is imperative that all team members understand and successfully reach and maintain the expected performance standard levels. To achieve total and sustainable success each person must do their part. Lighthouse will do its part in providing all necessary tools and training required to help team members be successful.

DEFINITION:

Under immediate to general supervision, performs advanced level work involved in providing psychological and counseling services. This position is supervised by the respective Director of Crisis Services.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Completion of the curriculum requirements of a master's degree in a mental health or substance abuse related field from an accredited university.
  • Oklahoma State Licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Behavioral Practitioner, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor.
  • Two years' experience in a professional capacity involving the delivery of clinical service or, any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Considerable skill in working with people, in effectively treating social, emotional and addiction problems, in expressing ideas clearly and concisely in written and oral form, in exercising good judgment in evaluating situations and in making decisions.
  • An expectation of core competencies in relation to individuals with co-occurring disorders, trauma informed care and collaborative care.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of the principles and tests, the application of psychological theories with respect to group and individual behavior; of mental illness, it's symptoms, treatment, and social implications in relation to consumers and their family.
  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of crisis management and stabilization.
  • Skill in diagnosing, assessing, and developing care plans; evaluating a wide variety of clinical data; in carrying out courses of treatment; in counseling and guiding individuals and groups; and in communicating clearly, both orally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of counseling and psychotherapy techniques for individuals, families, and groups.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of social work and/or psychology and of current social and economic problems.
  • Knowledge of personality development and structure.
  • Knowledge of counseling and rehabilitative approaches utilized with individuals diagnosed with Serious Mental Illness.
  • Ability to evaluate situations and adopt an effective course of action, to delegate responsibilities, organize and present facts effectively.
  • Able to establish working relationships within an integrated team to coordinate and facilitate care by assessing consumer needs, evaluating treatment options, creating care plans, coordinating care with internal and external providers, and monitoring progress.
  • Ability to work effectively and courteously with individuals and families from various cultures and backgrounds, and to exercise good clinical judgment.
  • Specialized training and/or certification in mental health services or related field as may be required to provide adjunctive services, i.e., Suicide Assessment and Trauma.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is responsible and held accountable for the following duties:

  • Provide varying types of individuals, group therapy services in crisis stabilization settings to individuals and groups experiencing behavioral, emotional, chemical dependency, and adjustment difficulty to promote emotional or psychological change to alleviate mental disorders and facilitate recovery.
  • Provides and/or arranges for case management services as needed. Provide screening and crisis stabilization services as assigned.
  • Monitors and evaluates the needs and abilities of the consumer and assists them to function more adequately through use of their own strengths and through use of community resources.
  • Will recognize that the individual client and family has different barriers to social, economic, and educational opportunities and has varied levels of need to overcome those barriers.
  • Assists clients to adjust and adapt themselves to their environment, care, and treatment. Completes all agency documentation of services in a thorough, accurate and timely manner.
  • Develop cooperative working relationships within the local community to enhance consumer access to resources that support the individualized Care Plan goals and transitional aftercare.
  • Employee must be willing and able to perform all job-related travel normally associated with this position.
  • Must meet agency standards of productivity and fiscal responsibility.
  • Prepares for and actively participates in staff meeting and morning huddles and Care Planning staffing to discuss the diagnosis, etiology, treatment, and disposition of patients.
  • Must meet "satisfactory" expectations at any scheduled job performance evaluation, coaching and/or Performance Improvement Plans.
  • Assessment and appraisal of quality of work will be evaluated through training, skill, chart review or special purpose.
  • Must complete Lighthouse required training and resulting follow up and consultation as required at hire, annually and as directed by Supervisor.
  • Performs other reasonably related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or other management as requested.

Must perform the specific job duties as listed above to meet position expectations.

In addition, must possess skill in working cooperatively and effectively with clients, staff, management, and other professional and community groups; in exercising mature judgment in dealing with people; in presenting ideas clearly and accurately; in reading and comprehending the English language; and in communicating effectively, both orally and in writing.
