As a Family Support Provider, you will use your previous learning and life experiences to empower, uplift and help children and families heal from the many forms of mental illness, trauma and/or addiction.

In order to achieve total and sustainable success each person must do their part. Lighthouse will do its part in providing any and all necessary tools and training required to help team members be successful.
DEFINITION:
Under immediate to general supervision, provides targeted support services to develop a system of care that is child centered with the needs of the child and family dictating the types and mix of services provided to assist in preventing out of home and out of school placements. This position is supervised by the respective Director of Outpatient Services.
Qualifications and Benefits
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED or an equivalent competency.
- Experience in seeking and accessing state and community resources.
- A willingness to help families access resources and services for children with behavioral/emotional needs and navigating the child reserving system.
- Current certification as a Peer Recovery Support Specialist as described in ODMHSAS Standards and Criteria for Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist 450:53-3-1.
- An expectation of core competencies in relation to individuals with co-occurring disorders, trauma informed care and collaborative care.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Able to work within an integrated team to facilitate care by assessing consumer needs, helping them evaluate treatment options, coordinating care with internal and external providers, and monitoring progress.
- Ability to evaluate situations and adopt an effective course of action, to delegate responsibilities, organize and present facts effectively.
- Ability to establish working relationships with clinical and support staff in order to develop professionalism and coordination within the team.
- Able to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with employees, clients and the public.
- Ability to interact with staff, clients and administration and the community both in person and on the telephone.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality guidelines for interactions regarding client information.
- Ability to work well under pressure meeting deadlines with efficiency and consistency.
- Such specialized training and/or certification in mental health services or related field as may be required in order to provide adjunctive services, i.e., Systems of Care/Wraparound training.
- Professional and mature presentation of oneself demonstrating the ability to work with various systems while maintaining objectivity and cooperative attitude.
- Ability to work effectively and courteously with people from various cultures and backgrounds, and to exercise good professional judgment.
- Ability and willingness to share one’s personal learning experiences to promote recovery.
- Assist consumers in regaining control of their lives and recovery processes.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position is responsible and held accountable for the following duties:
- Provide varying types of individualized recovery supportive services in various settings to individuals, families and groups to promote change to facilitate recovery.
- Serves as a role model for recovery and assists the consumer and family in identifying barriers to engagement in treatment.
- Assist families in developing and recruiting informal supports to be a part of the Family Team meetings.
- Complete (or co-complete) Strengths Needs Cultural Discovery (SNCD) assessments, Functional Assessments/Crisis Plans, Safety Plans, and Care Plans/Updates.
- Completes OKSOC Assessments and other specified documentation as assigned.
- Enters data into the YIS system according to ODMHSAS requirements and timelines.
- Provide support for families with the eventual goal of the family utilizing their natural supports.
- Facilitate or co-facilitate Family Team meetings and ensure informal supports are included and part of the team.
- Implement the Do For, Do With, and Cheer On model for families.
- Maintain close communication with the integrated care team to ensure the highest quality services are delivered for youth and families.
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job requirement.
- Participates in required staff meetings.
- Performs other reasonably related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or other management as requested.
- Monitor and evaluate services provided to the families. Contact families as needed to monitor progress and inquire about new needs.
- Must be willing and able to perform al job-related travel normally associated with this position (this may include transportation of clients).
- Completes all agency documentation of services in a thorough, accurate and timely manner.
- Must meet agency standards of productivity and fiscal responsibility.
- Prepares for and actively participates in huddles, Care Planning and staff meetings.
- Must meet “satisfactory” expectations at any scheduled job performance evaluation, coaching and/or Performance Improvement Plans.
- Assessment and appraisal of quality of work will be evaluated through training, skill, chart review or special purpose.
- Must complete Lighthouse required training and resulting follow up and consultation as required at hire, annually and as directed by Supervisor.
- Must perform the specific job duties as listed above to meet position expectations.
In addition, must possess skill in working cooperatively and effectively with clients, staff, management and other professional and community groups; in exercising mature judgment in dealing with people; in presenting ideas clearly and accurately; in reading and comprehending the English language; and in communicating effectively, both orally and in writing.
