What are the responsibilities and job description for the Barista position at Lighthouse Café and Beacon Coffee?
This job is located on Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune. A military contractors ID will be provided if needed to get on base. Must pass a simple background check.
* Base pay is $7.25 per hour, but the minimum average tip gap is $11.75-$15 per hour added to your wages. Our Baristas range from $18 - $22 per hour.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, including coffee, espresso drinks, smoothies, and teas
- Take customer orders and provide exceptional customer service
- Operate cash register and handle financial transactions accurately
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including restocking supplies as needed
- Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines when handling and preparing food items
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and excellent customer experience
- Upsell and promote additional products or specials to customers
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in the food industry or as a barista is required.
- Solo position, strong time management skills to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to engage and interact with customers in a friendly manner and use a POS system.
- Knowledge of retail math for calculating discounts, sales tax, and change
- Ability to work well in a team setting and communicate effectively with coworkers
Additional Skills:
- Knowledge of coffee brewing techniques and different coffee varieties
- Understanding of food handling procedures and safety regulations
