Homemaker Functions
- Engage in dialogue with the client/client pertaining to daily life events.
- Arrange and/or Accompany client for outings our of the home, including but not limited to:
- Family gatherings
- Doctor Visits
- Pharmacy
- Grocery Store
- Post Office
- Religious Services
- Assist in client bills and other financials
- Assist in household tasks such as:
- Laundry
- Sweeping and Mopping
- Dishes
- Vacuuming
- Dusting
- Participate in meal participation
- Perform medication reminders (do not handle and/or provide medication)
- Engage in entertainment activities, including but not limited to:
- Puzzles
- Television Shows and Movies
- Arts and Crafts
- Reading
Personal Care Functions
- Participate in and receive report at shift change when appropriate.
- Follow established policies concerning exposure to blood/body fluids.
- Assist clients with daily dental and mouth care (i.e., brushing teeth/dentures, oral hygiene, special mouth care, etc.).
- Assist clients with bath functions as directed per the care plan.
- Assist clients with dressing/undressing as necessary.
- Assist clients with hair care functions (i.e., combing, brushing, shampooing, etc.).
- Shave male clients with electric razors only.
- Keep clients dry (change clothing, linens, etc. when they become wet or soiled).
- Position clients in correct and comfortable position.
- Assist clients with bowel and bladder functions as per the care plan.
- Maintain intake and output records as instructed.
- Keep incontinent clients clean and dry.
- Check and report bowel movements and character of stools if a change is noticed and record in notebook.
- Collect specimens as instructed (i.e., urine, sputum, stools, etc.).
- Assist with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting clients into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc.
- Assist clients to walk with or without self-help devices as instructed.
- Assist with exercises when appropriate.
- Provide eye and ear care (i.e., warm/cold compresses, cleaning eyeglasses/hearing aides, etc.) as instructed.
- Measure and record temperatures, pulse, as instructed.
- Answer client calls promptly.
- Ensure that clients who are unable to call for help are checked frequently.
- Check each client routinely to ensure that his/her personal care needs are being met in accordance with his/her wishes.
- Assist with the care of the dying client.
- Provide post-mortem care as instructed.
- Observe and report the presence of pressure areas and skin breakdowns to prevent decubitus ulcers (bedsores).
- Report injuries of an unknown source, including skin tears.
- Provide perineal care.
- Provide daily Range of Motion Exercises if appropriate. Record data as instructed.
- Turn bed-bound clients at least every two (2) hours.
- Observe disoriented clients.
- Record and report data as instructed.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
