What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dental Assistant position at Lighthouse Dental (M&T Family Dentistry PLLC)?
M&T Family Dentistry, PLLC DBA Lighthouse Dental in Pascagoula, MS is looking for a positive, goal-oriented, enthusiastic, punctual, dental assistant!
The hours are Monday through Friday, with a lunch break from 12-1pm. We have two general dentists, Dr. Pearson and Dr. Tran. We use Dentrix with Dexis intraoral sensors.
Previous dental experience is preferred but not required.
Required: High school diploma or equivalent; Active CPR Certificate; Active Dental Radiology Permit

Duties
- Must be skilled in the use of office equipment including: Autoclave, model trimmer, PAN and x-ray sensor equipment, oxygen and nitrous oxide, intra oral camera. Must be able to educate patients on treatment.
- Must be able to take blood pressure.
- Must be able to prevent cross contamination and have knowledge of OSHA regulations.
- Must be able to write in English using correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Greet and welcome patients as they arrive at the dental office
- Answer phone calls and schedule appointments for patients (if needed)
- Manage patient records and update information as necessary
- Verify insurance coverage and assist with billing inquiries (if needed)
- Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, and scanning documents
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients and address their concerns or questions
- Collaborate with dental staff to ensure smooth patient flow and efficient operations
- Must be able to assist dental chair side. Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. Must be able to reach above the shoulder level to work. Job requires sitting and twisting/turning for work.
Experience
- Previous experience as a dental assistant is preferred (2 years is preferred)
- Proficiency in Dentrix dental software systems is highly desirable
- Knowledge of medical terminology and dental procedures is required
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
