Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Tax Preparer to join our dedicated team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing individual federal and state income tax returns, while offering support in tax planning as part of our broader financial planning services. This role plays a critical part in integrating tax management with investment and retirement strategies to optimize financial outcomes for our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and file federal and state individual income tax returns for clients.
- Collaborate with financial planners to assess tax implications of investment and retirement strategies.
- Provide proactive tax planning throughout the year, including tax-loss harvesting, retirement account management, and tax-efficient security selection.
- Communicate with clients to gather necessary tax documentation and provide guidance on minimizing tax liabilities.
- Stay updated on changing tax laws and regulations, ensuring compliance and taking advantage of potential tax-saving opportunities.
- Support financial advisors during client meetings by explaining tax-related strategies and their impact on overall financial plans.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in tax preparation, preferably for high-net-worth individuals.
- Familiarity with federal and state tax laws and their implications on retirement planning and investments.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tax filings efficiently.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex tax topics in a client-friendly manner.
- CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) certification is preferred.
- Experience with Drake Tax Preparation software is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary based on experience.
- Flexible work arrangements (hybrid and remote options available).

- Work hours are expected to average 40 hours per week, with more time expected during the busy season and less outside of the busy season.
