JOB TITLE: Transportation Specialist/Driver
STATUS: Part-Time
SUPERVISOR: Chief Executive Officer & Transportation Coordinator
LOCATION: Hernando & Citrus (office Brooksville)
Objective
Provide courteous and reliable transportation for visually impaired and blind clients. This position requires good interpersonal and communication skills, ability to use professional values and ethics to effectively interact with others, strong time management skills, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
Essential Functions:
- Transport clients to and from Lighthouse facilities, appointments, events or other assigned locations.
- Fueling the vehicles and keeping the assigned vehicle in proper working condition
- Work with Transportation Coordinator and Instructors for times and dates to transport the clients
- Maintaining the vehicles and perform the daily per-trip and post-trip inspections
- Assist customers when needed.
- Support the agency programs as directed.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Commitment to Lighthouse’s mission.
- Provide outstanding customer service to clients.
- Able to drive a multi-passenger vehicle safely and appropriately
- Understand the rules and regulations of the FTA and USDOT
- Work together with clients, co-workers and upper level staff
- Keep proper maintenance records for each vehicle and recognize when the vehicle needs maintenance, and report to the manager if there is a problem
- Exhibit patience and understanding for those with disabilities
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a part-time hourly position. The typical workweek is Monday – Thursday, however a few Fridays and Saturdays will be required each month. Some evenings required.
Education, Experience and Attributes:
- Must be 21 and older.
- Valid Florida driver’s license required.
- Must maintain a safe driving record.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Neat and clean professional appearance.
