Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse - Telemetry to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will provide high-quality patient care in a telemetry unit, monitoring patients' vital signs and responding to their needs. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes in a fast-paced environment, particularly within a Level II Trauma Center.
Duties
- Conduct thorough patient assessments and monitor vital signs continuously.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring adherence to infection control protocols.
- Provide catheter care and assist with venipuncture procedures.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation of patient care activities and observations.
- Collaborate with case management to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Educate patients and their families on health management, discharge planning, and follow-up care.
- Participate in the training of nursing students and new staff members as needed.
- Uphold standards of patient safety and quality care, particularly for geriatric patients.
Skills
- Proficient in patient assessment techniques and critical thinking skills.
- Strong knowledge of infection control practices and medical documentation standards.
- Experience with Athenahealth or similar electronic health record systems is preferred.
- Ability to perform catheter care and venipuncture competently.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Familiarity with case management processes and geriatric care considerations.
- Capacity to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
